Kiwi Earthquake Survivors Need Your Help

Motivational Radio launches international aid campaign for earthquake survivors and families. Details to be announced During the premier of the Dream Big Revolution™ at 6 pm EST Friday, March 4.

CHRISTCHURCH, NZ, Feb. 24, 2011. A national state of emergency was declared after a massive 6.3 magnitude earthquake pounded the city of Christchurch, New Zealand. The ground is still shaking from hundreds of devastating aftershocks as reports of more than 100 people have been declared dead and hundreds more are missing. Reports from the area show buildings piled on top of people, bodies lying in the streets, no essential services – including no water, power or sewer service, and terrifying videos of injured people scrambling to avoid falling debris from damaged buildings. All of this follows a devastating 7.1 quake last September and its more than 3000 after-shocks.

Why should we care about a tiny country so far away from the rest of the world? We have our own problems!

The answer is: disaster can happen anywhere. The painful memories of New Orleans, Haiti and Indonesia still burn in our minds. The next disaster could happen in your own back yard. If we don’t care, who will!

The real question is how can we help?

What Tomorrow Brings!

At the dawn of a new year, I often wonder what the new year will bring. This year, as with every year, I am hopeful for good times, prosperity and success. Will the new year bring adventure? Will it bring peace?

Last year was a very difficult year for many people. For many, it was a year of changes, challenges, transitions, coping and financial difficulties. Difficulties force us to re-evaluate, to become more efficient and effective. Many of us have had to re-group and re-focus. Re-inventing ourselves is often a tiresome, stressful process - after all, birth is painful and messy but often results in joys we could not have previously imagined. I truly believe we have found the “bottom” of the recession, if we continue to look towards a great future.

Many experts advise us to be grateful, however, sometimes when we are going through difficult times, it is especially difficult to be grateful. The best way to heal from a situation is to balance the difficulties with the "affirmative." For example, gratitude heals resentment; hope heals despair; pride heals defeat; dignity heals misdeeds; and confidence and courage heals rejection and fear.

All of these mindsets can be chosen.

Many entrepreneurs are “born” out of difficult financial times. People who find themselves out of work, for example, might feel forced to start a business and soon they find running a business is the most difficult, yet rewarding undertaking they have faced. You may also find yourself faced with a monumental challenge, disguised as the opportunity to create the life of your dreams. Big decisions are accompanied by independence and opportunity to chase new directions.

There are many things we cannot control in this world. We can, however, control how we let events affect our life. How we bring things into our own private world and keep events in our world is our own choice. We may not be able to control much of what happened the past few months, or events outside of us but, how the events are integrated into our life, used, defined and resolved are very much within our control.

How can we ensure this new year will bring the good things we want from life?
How can we ensure joy, inspiration and passion for ourselves?

Last year, many of us were consumed with crisis. We were plagued with questions like: How will we feed our families? Can I find extra work to pay my mortgage? How will I cope with my family problems? While we were busy feeding the goose that lays the proverbial golden egg, we lost sight of the actual golden egg.

Fundamental life questions were set aside while we took care of the sometimes harsh realities of life.

What do I want?
What makes me happy?
What is my dream career?
Why am I on this earth? (i.e., what is my purpose, reason for being, mission?)

Most importantly,
Do my actions support the answers to these fundamental questions?

Recently, I was reminded of something I used to say, “I’m so fortunate, I get to do _________, today.” Fill your day, with the completed version of this statement and “taking care of the realities of life,” will start taking care of themselves. Work is not really “work” when it is inspired and passionate.

As the new year dawns, cure the past gratitude, hope, pride, dignity, confidence and courage.
Then ask yourself,
what will I bring to this new year?

Have a truly happy, new year!

.....sometimes the biggest compliment someone can give is to say, "you are crazy!"
Sticks and stones may break my bones as the saying goes, but thank you very much, I will use those stones to build my dreams!

It's really more of a reflection on who is saying the criticism. They may say you can't but inside they are often thinking, "I can't"

We can lose our jobs, money, homes, possessions, health & loved ones, but we are only truly defeated when we give up one thing. This thing is ours. We often take it for granted. Only we can choose to relinquish. We can earn more of it by sharing it with others but if we abandon it, we are sure to meet our defeat. It is Hope.

But the reality is, I can pick up a potted plant and move it myself. Think about what you can learn from your situation and how the situation benefits you.
How do we get past Potted Plant Syndrome?
1. Remember what you want! Keep your eye on the target!
2. Start working on getting what you want. Stay the course.
3. Celebrate small wins. Often when we achieve something or something good happens we just keep going and don’t take the time to celebrate it and enjoy it. Celebrating wins, regardless of small they are, will help motivate us to keep moving forward.
Hey, if for now you can’t change an event that has happened, grow where you are planted!

Do you have just one minute to hear how you can set your goals?

Everyone needs something to work towards – personally. Your personal goals are about what you want out of life. They are not assigned by someone else and they are to help you become a better person.

If you don’t write your goals, they remain a wish!

Here are some tips to writing goals.
1. Goals should be challenging but attainable. You should push yourself to achieve but you should be able to achieve your goals.
2. Goals should be measurable. If they aren’t measurable, you will never know if you have achieved them. For example, if you want to be a kinder person, think of things you can do which represent being a kind person then write, something like, “I will do 3 random acts of kindness, today,” or “I will help my neighbour/parent/friend by doing ______blank_______, today.”
3. Goals should have a time limit. The above goals, included the word “today.” Write down what you want to accomplish in a particular day, week, month, year and 3 years. If you don’t put a time limit on your goals, you will push them aside for things which seem more urgent.
Remember, this is about you getting what you want, so make it a priority. You deserve it!

During the holiday season we can be surrounded by tasty treats and indulgences. The holidays can also be a busy, stressful and emotional time which can leave us feeling exhausted and can distract us from our normal healthy diet and exercise routine.

Hear are some tips to avoid holiday weight gain:

1. Be conscious of what you eat and how much. Serve yourself or ask for small servings. Eat slowly and savour the holiday flavours.

2. Adopt a Defensive attitude - think of yourself not only as a person who is trying to loose weight or someone trying to be healthy and avoid junk. Be prepared to politely turn down food, make statements like, “oh it looks wonderful, you must have worked so hard to prepare this, but I am so full right now,”

3. Plan in Advance.
Eat a little before you go to a holiday gathering; hunger can undo the best intentions.
Stay away from sources of temptation. Keep treats out of reach and avoid rooms filled with tempting

The best thing you can do is try to stick to your normal schedule and routine. While managing the stress and business of the season, people tend to sacrifice their routines – especially exercise and healthy diet choices. Stay active. 3. Make sure you set a time for your older children should be home and they know how important it is for them to be home on time.

Many small children are afraid of the dark. It is a very difficult challenge to convince them there is nothing to be afraid of, or are not ghosts or “bad” things in the dark when they hear about it from friends, see it on tv and movies.

A fear of the dark can be very debilitating to a young child! Until your child is old enough to discuss their fears and rationalize them away, here are 3 tips to help empower them:

1. Let them tell you what they are afraid of - in their own words, and listen without minimizing. Acknowledge their fears. They are very real to your child!
2. Empower them! Ask them to imagine themselves in a situation where they have power over what they fear. For example, on your cartoon, your favourite character sprayed the bad guy with goo. Pretend you are spraying the ghost with goo to make it go away. Laughing at something is very empowering.
3. Buy some “Anti-Ghost Spray”! Where do you buy ghost spray? Any store! Put a picture of a ghost over the label of a bottle of perfume or air freshener. Empower your child by letting them spray the Anti-Ghost Spray and say “Get Lost Ghost!

Whenever they smell the spray, they know they are ghost free. You may want to remind them it is very powerful so they don’t spray an overwhelming amount.

BTW, Anti-Ghost Spray can also work as Anti Monster, Anti BoogieMan and Anti Zombi spray!

Still no eye glasses, folks!
I have been wearing glasses since I was 15! ....so for 3 years now.... :-)
How incredible!
It's no wonder I had terrible headaches if I had been so strongly over-prescribed. I have not had 1 headache since I stopped wearing my glasses!
I am so happy and grateful!

Merry Christmas!
Things have been wonderfully busy around here and the new year promises to be even more fun!
-First, the videos are up! You might have noticed the videos on the home page and the Dream Building page. Thanks again to Kim Walburger.

-Second, my production company, GypsieMuse Productions has teamed up with Glass Frogs Productions and Five Shades of Red Productions for the filming of our documentary, "Favorite Haunts." Filming started in at the beginning of this month. Thanks so much to everyone who helped and participated, especially Gerard Gibb and the staff of the Empress Theatre.

-Third, thanks very much to the Terry Royer Institute, Business Training & Development Institute and Chinook Health for having me as a closing keynote speaker during their professional development days.

Some of the big news is: I have teamed up with the prestigious Lavin Agency, SpeakerMatch.com, and I will be speaking for several teleseminars, webinars and large conferences in the new year.
There is also some talk of my own network radio show and being a guest on a few other shows (...more details to follow about this).

There are several new and exciting projects underway for the new year. I will keep you updated.

Hey everyone! Amazing news!!
For the past year, I have been getting terrible eye strain and brain splitting headaches. I've been to optometrists in both New Zealand as well as Canada. All of them wanted to amp up my prescription. One eye doc even wanted me to have bifocals!!
The other day I went to an eye doctor who is knowledgeable about eye exercises and natural remedies. She actually took the time to do a proper exam. She dilated my pupils to get an accurate reading. Turns out I have nearly 20/20 vision!!
I no longer need glasses!
